We left 5 am on Tuesday morning and drove for 7 hours to Livingston,
Zambia. Checked into the Waterberry Zambezi Lodge and
enjoyed an afternoon watching wild game in the
Zimbabwe National Park across the river. Even had a crocodile
swim up to the dock, a little frightening to Chelsea.
The next morning the mist on the river was beautiful.
Dawn on the Zambezi River
Wednesday evening just as we sat down to dinner we had two elephants
cross the lawn right in front of the lodge (see photo).
Unfortunately, none of us brought our cameras and by the
time we could get them, we could only hear them chomping as they
moved into the dark around the camp.
Waterberry Lodge
The staff at Waterberry Lodge treated us to a bush dinner -
good food, great conversation and fun entertainment.
The basic dish was nshema made from corn, along with
creamed spinach and ground nuts, meat and gravy,
eggplant, tomato relish, and beans. As is traditional,
we sat on cushions and ate with our hands.
Grandmas sat in chairs.
Victoria Falls is beautiful. Luckily the wind was not strong
so even though we did get wet on the bridge, there was not nearly
as much spray as last year.
